KFQHRA Recommends Natural, not Fads! Consider the following do's and don'ts: |
| : |
- Do have your horse clean, curried and brushed.
- Do have hooves clean and trimmed.
- Do have mane, forelock & tail brushed, tail natural between fetlock and hock, mane natural.
- Do wear regular western wear, hat & boots, that does not distract from your horse or his working ability.
- Do remember that you are showing your horse, not yourself or your bankroll!
|
|
- Don't clip out ears - the hair in the ears helps keep out insects, dirt, snow, wind and rain.
- Don't body clip - natural body hair tells the story about your horse. Body clipping is phoney conditioning.
- Don't braid manes or tail - leave natural.
- Don't stain hooves or hair with any materials.
- Don't ever use drugs, bleed or alter tails.
- Don't touch your horse with hands or feet while being judged in conformation class.
- Don't use silver or glitter on your horse or yourself - it distracts from your horse.
